Earth has layers of lava or more accurately, magma, below the crust. The crust goes down at least 25 miles deep then goes into the mantle. The Mantle is the thickest layer and makes up most of Earth's mass. Then comes the core, the outer core is molten iron and nickel, liquid. The inner core is the same material but as hot as the surface of the sun, and solid.
